Obama's State of The Union

President Obama is set to deliver his state of the union address tonight and many are eagerly anticipating what he will deliver. I certainly have high hopes for the address, especially after the presidents moving speech concerning the shootings in Tucson. Obama did not merely use the shootings for his own political agenda as did a certain Alaska native. I eagerly wait to hear about the president's agenda for next year: my hopes are that they will address the marriage equality issue, reinvigorating the job market, and the horribly racist immigration laws that cropped up last year.

Rush Limbaugh Defends Role in Arizona Shootings

This article from CNN talks about the role that Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin played in the shootings that occurred in Arizona. It can be said that because of their antagonistic words and aggressive stances during the heated election year that was 2010.

"[The media] is unnecessarily stirring up the country in ways that don't merit," Limbaugh said on his radio program Monday. "It's fatuous and silly to even verify and justify these accusations by defending them. The premise is insane, it's silly, it's beneath these people. Or is it? It is who they are."

I don't believe that they were entirely responsible for the shootings, but I do believe that the way that they handled their political agendas in 2010 played a crucial factor in determining the attitudes of many. Time will tell whether this will be a learning experience for these conservative media mavens.
